An «urban pazo» is a house of higher standing than its neighbours, both in material — stone — and in the social rank of those who lived there (A Noia da memoria, Pedro García Vidal, 1990). These seigneurial houses are examples of Gothic civic architecture, remnants of one of the town’s most prosperous periods.

Pazo Dacosta

A Gothic house that, while still striving upwards, looks almost like a fortress in the thickness of its walls and piers. Arcades form a street-level walkway, as in the other houses, with the dwelling above.
